The Hotel is located 100 meters off Old Bagamoyo road, some 18 kms from the Dar es Salaam International Airport, 3 kilometers from the American Embassy, and 7 kilometers from the Dar es Salaam Central Business District - CBD. it is situated in Mikocheni, an upper market residential area of Dar es Salaam, with a quiet surrounding within an evergreen tropical Garden.
A free beach on the Indian Ocean is just a few minutes walk from the Hotel.

A part of the hotel buildings which has 9 rooms, was originally residential but has been extensively refurbished to provide for all modern necessities and conveniences. We have managed to retain its original characteristics with that feeling as though you are at home. The lobby, wall-to-wall wardrobes, the exotic Zanzibar beds, the dining room and gardens, all give testimony to the Hotel’s unique quality. The new wing has 10 rooms

All 19 rooms are spacious, adequately furnished with air conditioners, satellite TV programs, wireless internet connections, exotic Zanzibar beds some of which are over 60 years old - all fitted with mosquito nets, after a very comfortable silent night a real good breakfast is waiting for you in the morning. Akana Lodge is environmentally friendly hotel with solar energy back-up, all rooms are non-smoking, and smoking is allowed only at specifically designated areas.
